A Different Boarding System on the Il-86: Stow Your Bags, Head Up to the Cabin

Ilyushin Il-86 aircraft operated by members of the AirUnion alliance, including KrasAir, stood out for their built-in boarding stairs leading to the lower deck. Passengers could board via these stairs with their luggage.

After stowing their bags in designated lower-deck compartments, passengers used internal stairs to reach the main passenger cabin. This design reduced the need for external boarding stairs at the airports served by the aircraft.
